The Rape Crisis Center, Inc. (RCC) provides 24-hour helpline support, medical advocacy, and law enforcement advocacy for sexual assault survivors of all ages, crisis and short-term counseling and personal advocacy for survivors twelve years of age and older, legal advocacy, campus disciplinary process advocacy, systems advocacy, self-defense, education, outreach, professional development and prevention programming.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Mental Health Services (DMHS) is a licensed therapist with a minimum of five years, full-time experience providing therapy to a diverse clientele of sexual assault and trauma survivors. The DMHS oversees all mental health/licensed, postgraduate therapy services, and Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) at RCC. The DMHS is responsible for clinical supervision of therapists, CCS staff and therapy services staff management. The DMHS provides trauma-informed, responsible, culturally competent, ethical counseling as well as supervision that boosts the competency and capacity of mental health staff to serve a wide range of survivors of sexual violence and trauma in Dane County. The DMHS will advise advocacy staff and supervise mental health staff that provide advocacy consultation. The DMHS will monitor and track billing hours for mental health staff and CCS staff to maintain 70% billable time. The DMHS will work with insurance companies, insurance billers, and CCS to coordinate billing, reimbursement, and client payments. The DMHS will oversee mental health language in marketing, outreach, and direct service materials. The DMHS will advise the Executive Director on mental health needs related to direct client services. All RCC employees must be committed to providing services with and to a variety of cultures with cultural awareness, sensitivity and humility and all employees must complete the RCC Helpline training.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISION

Provide supervision that promotes self-determination and empowerment for clients. Provides best practices, self-care, and ethical practice for RCC mental health therapists and CCS staff.

Provide individual and group supervision to RCC’s mental health therapy and CCS staff. Provide case consultation to enhance and build skills for the mental health therapists and CCS staff, help them manage client support, as well as to provide ethical and emotional support for them in their work.

Provide training and supervision for mental health therapists and CCS staff, including maintaining an Electronic Medical Record for therapy clients while approving intern and post graduate level therapist’s notes.

Develop and maintain professional relationships with colleges and universities who place graduate students at RCC for internships.

Develop and maintain an expertise in methods of counseling that are most effective for marginalized survivors based on their race, ethnicity, gender, gender identification, religion, age, ability, or other factors.

Provide regular reports and information to the Executive Director related to client service gaps, themes in survivor needs, areas for client services improvement, professional development needs, and support needs for mental health therapy and CCS staff.

Monitor and track billing hours for mental health staff and CCS staff to maintain 70% billable time.
Crisis Stabilization, Therapy, and Referrals

Provide therapy services to survivors of sexual assault and trauma and their support persons.

Provide short-term crisis intervention services by phone, online platforms, and in-person to survivors across the spectrum of sexual violence and trauma, as well as their support people and other community members.

Provide accurate and up-to-date information and referrals to callers and clients.

Work collaboratively with community organizations and agencies such as law enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program, human services agencies, non-profit social services, therapeutic practices, and other community partners.

Navigate referral processes for clients to outside agencies and therapy practices, including HMOs or other private insurances.
Program and General

Attend regular staff meetings and in-services, maintain regular contact with staff and supervisor, document services provided, and assist in office operations.

Helpline shifts, medical, and legal accompaniments as needed.

Participate in training of new staff and volunteers.

Work with insurance companies, insurance billers, and CCS to coordinate billing, reimbursement, and client payments.

Oversee mental health language in marketing, outreach, and direct service materials.

Advise the Executive Director on mental health needs related to direct client services.

Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Licensed therapist (LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or equivalent doctoral license), with a minimum of five years, full-time experience providing therapy.

Maintain individual malpractice insurance.
-
Experience providing therapy to clients of color, LGBTQIA+ clients and other marginalized clients.

Clear, demonstrated understanding of sexual violence and trauma.

Commitment to using a trauma-informed, empowerment-based model.

Ability to work flexible hours.
-
Satisfactory criminal background check, for both RCC and Dane County Human Services CCS.

Understanding of privilege, oppression, and its impact on client needs and services.

Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.

Extensive experience working with survivors of sexual trauma.

Personal and professional experience in communities of color.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bilingual in Spanish and English.
